Department of Behavioral Health
The care that I received from the behavioral health staff at Kenner Army Health Clinic was better than the previous expeiriences I had at MAMC Fort Lewis. I was also given care at Poplar Springs, located in Petersburg, Va. The care that I received there completely changed my life. PTSD is a life long issue, I will deal with but now I have the tolls to recover and drive on in every day life. Thank you for the care and compassion.
Primary Care Clinic (Family Medicine)
Ms. Blair Kazlo, Primary Care Clinic (Family Medicine), has provided my wife and I superb and timely customer service on numerous occasions the past 4 months. Her professionalism, knowldge and sense of urgency is commmendable. We had several time sensitive referral requirements which she quickly coordinated allowing us to receive important medical treatment on schedule. I strongly recommend her excellence be recognized by the Command.
Pharmacy Services
We are especially grateful for the support and service we received from Kenner's Pharmacy staff today. We were confronted with what for us were a couple of new circumstances. We called in about 7:30 this morning with our questions. Denise was helpful and knowledgeable. Thanks to her competence and attitude we were able to go to the pharmacy prepared for what was expected of us and how to accomplish what needed to be done. Once there, there was a short delay for a mandatory staff meeting, but during which we became familiar with the newly integrated TV and customer number notification system - impressive. We were assisted with our prescription by Melody. Despite the slightly unusual circumstances, she followed through on the guidance provided by Denise earlier. In a word, your team batted 1000 for us today. Since one of our prescriptions was for an antibiotic that is part of a prep for dental surgery on Friday, and was thus critical, your competence, professionalism, and attitude of service were critical. Thank you - all of you. You were there when we needed you, and in a big way.
Internal Medicine Clinic
Dr. (Maj) Daniel Selassie, Ms. Sharon Adams, and the entire internal medicine staff have done an outstanding job helping my wife through her medical issues. They are always quick to respond to her needs and very professional. We really appreciate their efforts. They deserve recognition for their exceptional work!
Dietician
Ms Tanner is outstanding person and professional. I’m still required to see her in the future for assistance.
Dermatology
Ms Williams took care of my skin problem with the necessary medicine. She is courteous and very helpful. I really appreciate her because there aren't but one dermatologist at Fort Lee, VA currently.
Occupational Health Clinic
Mr Pinkerton and his staff do a wonderful job. I have been to see him and his staff several times through the last 18 months and I can always count on them helping me with my problem in a most professional and superb manner. They are a true compassionate and caring part of the health care at Fort Lee. Many thanks to him and his staff. They can be counted upon all the time!!!
Department of Behavioral Health
Dr Brown has always displayed a genuine concern for me and his patients. He is very well versed in his profession and really goes the extra mile. I highly recommend Dr. Brown!
Eagle Eye Clinic (Optometry)
Dr Mohrman He is always very friendly and explaines the procedures and treatments in a clear manner. A "Good Doc"! Dr Press great very extensive and thorough eye exam.
Internal Medicine Clinic
Dr Gupta is an excellent PCM, very caring and helpful! Dr Selassie was the best doctor I've seen the past seven years at Kenner Army Health Clinic who treated me well and took time to listen to my issues. We need more like him at that clinic. Dr Tricarico I was very impressed he is a very good doctor helpful.
Wilkerson Pediatric Clinic
Ms Patsell truly seems to care about her about patients and enjoy helping them. She shows the upmost respect and knowledge when dealing with her patients. She deserves to be awarded for her hard work, dedication, and great service! Ms Rank, We are completly satisfied with Ms.Rank she is an amazing provder with an upbeat and friendly personality. We feel comfortable having her care for our child. Dr Sinaguinan is a great doctor and cares for his patient’s we need more doctor’s like him. Dr West-Brown is by far the best doctor we have ever had the pleasure of working with including those in the civilian sector. She is always friendly, professional, and caring. My children always feel very comfortable talking to her, and she always makes me feel that my children are her number one priority. Whenever the time comes for our family to pcs, the one thing I will miss the most about Fort Lee is Dr. West-Brown. She is awesome!!!!!
Primay Care Clinic (Family Medicine)
Dr Barot is a compassionate and caring professional. He is the primary care doctor for myself and my spouse. He always remembers us by name and asks about the other when we visit. He goes the extra mile to insure that our health needs are taken care of. Ms Benton is very thoughtful and very understanding with my illness. She is the best and treated me like family. Dr Bilinski was amazing, very careful since I am 28 weeks pregnant. Made sure baby and I were both okay. Best Dr I have had a Kenner ever. Mr Hufford For the first time I feel completely satisfied with my primary Dr. He listened to my concerns, he was patient and even took care of everything I needed to get checked. Dr Huggins is a wonderful doctor! She takes the time to answer my questions. She has a sweet personality. She always greets me with a smile. Dr Kastelberg I am extremely lucky to have Dr. Kastelberg as my Primary Care Physician. I am more than satisfy with him. He always listen carefully to all the facts presented to him and is ALWAYS pleasant, cordial, exercise’s a lot of patience, and above it all ALWAYS a true professional. Dr. Kastelberg is truly one of Fort Lee Kenner Clinic's jewels. Most definitely an Asset to the military families and Fort Lee's community. Dr Khalid has been our doctor for years now and she is just great. She knows me, remembers me, and she listens and mostly, she cares. She is a definite asset to Kenner Army Clinic. Ms Parks She has been, by far, the best experience I have had at Kenner. Her bedside manner and the way she answered my questions were excellent.

 Additional Feedback

Constructive Patient Comments with Kenner Resolutions
I went to the Primary Health Clinic, at Kenner Medical Clinic and requested a blood pressure on myself. I was informed that a doctor had to request a blood pressure test. Please let me know if this policy exist and explain the purpose of the policy.

Kenner Response:  You ask a very good question. Kenner Army Health Clinic does not provide simple blood pressure screenings on a routine basis to the public. We are not currently staffed to break away to address any issues that may come up with abnormal blood pressure findings in a screened beneficiary, to include nutritional and life-style counseling and, potentially, urgent treatment/referral for severe derangements.

As much as Kenner would like to provide this kind of public screening service routinely, we can currently only support it on special occasions when we can dedicate the proper staff to address the above issues (such as health fairs).  Thank you for your feedback!
Pharmacy Services

The change at the pharmacy for obtaining refill prescriptions is creating unnecessary hardships on both the pharmacy and patient. Please go back to going to one window for refills that have been called in without having to take a number. This system worked great and there was hardly ever any wait time at all.

Kenner Response:  You do not need a ticket for a refill. We discontinued that practice about a week ago.  Window #7 is the refill window.

If you have called in your refill (or completed on-line) 72 business hours or more in advance, your medication should be waiting for you. Thank you for your feedback!

Kenner Child Policy
We received concerns from many parents about our child policy restrictions for patient appointments.  Kenner Army Health Clinic (KAHC) understands that military spouses are often in the challenging position of having their spouses away or deployed, and some find it difficult to find and/or pay for childcare.

Kenner Response:  We have heard your concerns and changed our child policy for patient appointments!  Kenner now allows children to attend appointments with their parents.  Please understand that 1)  No more than two children may attend with the parent, 2) No children are allowed during procedures or during behavioral health appointments, and 3) If the child misbehaves and is not controllable by the parent, the provider retains the right to terminate the encounter and ask the parent to reschedule. Thank you for your feedback!
Patient After-Hours Phone Number
Patients periodically noted difficulty reaching (or waiting a long time to get an answer) at our AOD desk after hours.  A recommendation was made to get an additional phone line setup and retrain the personnel manning the phones.

Kenner Response:  In cooperation with the Garrison NEC, Kenner has now been able to get two new phones placed at our AOD/Information Desk (734-9000) with built-in roll-over capability for multiple inbound calls.  Additional phone features now allow our AOD to put one call on hold and respond to additional simultaneous inbound calls.  Thank you for your feedback!
Pharmacy Services
I had a bad experience on Friday at the Kenner Pharmacy.  It was close to a 2 hour wait. I had to leave in the middle of getting meds (to pick up a child drom daycare) only to be told that the prescription had to be cancelled completely (when I could have come back in 5 minutes to get it and I did).  1) BRING BACK THE RED NUMBERS OVER EACH BAY (the elderly cannot see or hear
the new flat screen in... the lobby; the red number system worked best; just fix it. 2) YOU NEED MORE STAFF ON DUTY. It's a headache enough for family members to deal with long wait times (especially spouses waiting with small children), but this is shameful and embarassing for retirees and the elderly to have to sit that long and endure a system that's not designed with them in mind. 3) You can save paper and the environment by doing what drug stores do, allowing customers to opt out of all of those print-outs for meds--especially if they are repeated monthly prescriptions. I don't have time to complete a survey, so I hope this makes it to the Commander of the clinic. Contact me for details if you'd like to. Thanks.

Kenner Response:  Our biggest problem currently is our waiting time. We compared our patient volume over the past few months to that of the last year. Our volume at the pharmacy has gone up considerably, while our staffing has remained flat.  Part of the increase in volume is related to Walgreens no longer accepting TRICARE scripts. Another reason is that co-pays at other pharmacies and insurance plans have increased significantly. These changes appear to be driving patients to our pharmacy for their meds. Without an increase in our staffing, we are seeing longer waiting times for patients who come to us during our peak hours.  This does not appear to be related to our new Q-flow system.  We are currently working on hiring more staff to make up for the increased volume and are working to add window number displays to our Q-flow patient numbering system.
