It’s NOW time to take get your seasonal flu vaccine. Flu season can run from early October through late May. Every flu season is different because the viruses change. That is why Kenner recommends getting your annual influenza vaccination. Getting immunized provides the best protection against influenza infection.
The flu vaccine is now available to all beneficaries enrolled at Kenner Army Health Clinic for care. For pediatric immunizations, call (804) 734-9176. For adult immunizations, call (804) 734-9162.
BACKGROUND: A DoD directive states that 90% of all active duty must be immunized with the influenza vaccine NLT 15 December 2013.
WHAT KENNER WILL OFFER: Kenner will support tenant units by hosting multiple flu clinics on weekdays and weekends. In order to utilize our resources most efficiently, while minimizing loss of student POI time, ensuring accountability and meeting our vaccination goal, we ask that each unit coordinate one (1) dedicated session with our POCs (see below). To ensure military personnel from each unit receive the influenza vaccination in accordance with the OTSG Directive, we need to coordinate unit influenza vaccinations as early as possible due to delayed shipment of the influenza vaccine. Sessions will be coordinated and offered based on unit size. Smaller sized units can be accommodated on a weekday morning or evening.

We understand that individual personnel may be unable to comply with their assigned date for a number of reasons. We will coordinate an alternate session to catch those few Soldiers who cannot attend a prescheduled session. We urge your Soldiers to not go to your local pharmacy to obtain the flu vaccine, as MEDPROS documentation is not part of this process.
CIVILIANS: Eligible beneficiaries may obtain their immunizations at Kenner during regular immunization clinic hours starting date estimated to be around late October. By separating civilians from military, it will avoid delays in processing active duty during their assignment times. All NON-beneficiaries will have to seek the flu immunization from their personal provider or pharmacy.
