COVID-19 Pharmacy Updates

In response to DHA, CDC, State and local guidelines against the spread of COVID-19, the Kenner Pharmacy will be providing Drop Off and Pick Up services ONLY. Drop-off requests for all prescriptions including electronic and hardcopy prescriptions can be completed at the clinic main entrance (pharmacy Drop-Off section) while all prescription Pick Up will be completed using the Drive-Through pharmacy. The Main and Refill pharmacies hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday; CLOSED for lunch from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., weekends and federal holidays. You may reach the pharmacy at 804-734-9535 for additional questions or concerns. Thank you for your understanding as we do our part to ensure the safety of both customers and staff.

To further minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19, we recommend using the Tricare Mail Order Prescription services (TMOP or Home Delivery Pharmacy Service) or Retail network pharmacy. You may access TMOP at www.tricare.mil or by calling 1-877-363-1303 or 1-800-238-6095.

New prescriptions, refills, and medication counseling are all available through Kenner's dedicated group of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Kenner Army Health Clinic is a full service operation for prescriptions from military or civilian providers.

Our Mission is to Provide World Class Pharmaceutical Care by promoting optimal drug therapy and enhancing the medication delivery system to maintain medical readiness, and the health of Soldiers, family members and retirees.

If a medication is not available on Kenner's formulary, you may be able to obtain the medication through the National Tricare Mail Order Pharmacy. Check with TRICARE to see what benefits are available to you.

To learn which medications are available through the TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery or retail pharmacy benefit, please visit the TRICARE Formulary web site. Users may need to clear the cookies from their web browser to access the formulary.

NOTES: For refill requests and pharmacy questions, please call 804-734-9535.  Refills may be picked up after three business days using the Drive-Through Pharmacy.

Pharmacy Services

Services are available for Active Duty service members and their family, as well as retirees and their family members. The patient's military ID card must be presented each time a service is requested. Children aged 10 years and older are required to have an ID card. The Main and Refill Pharmacy operating hours are from  8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; CLOSED for lunch from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., weekends, and federal holidays.

Refill Prescription Options

Refilled prescriptions may be picked up using the Drive-Through pharmacy and require the patients ID card. The pharmacy has a mandatory call-in refill process. The fully automated refill system is available 24/7 by calling 804-734-9535.

Refills should be ordered within seven business days before the medication runs out to prevent unintended medication disruptions. Refills are processed within 72 business hours after they are requested. Refills that have not been picked up within 10 days will be returned to stock.  A patient request will be required for these medications to be processed again.

Self-Care

A limited number of over the counter medications are available to eligible beneficiaries. Please consult with a Kenner pharmacist for your self-care needs.

Prescription Drop-Off Service

The Kenner pharmacy currently offers Drop-Off and Pick Up services only. Prescriptions (including electronic and hardcopy) dropped off will be ready for pick-up after 72 business hours or 3 business days. Medications such as antibiotics or those deemed urgent may be processed and dispensed promptly. Drop Off requests may be completed at the clinic main entrance (pharmacy Drop-Off section) while processed prescriptions may be Picked Up using the Drive-Through pharmacy. Completed Drop-Off medications that have not been picked up within 7 business days will be returned to stock.  A patient request will be required for these medications to be processed again.

Electronic Prescriptions

Off-post physician offices can now choose to electronically send prescriptions to KAHC instead of using paper prescriptions. To take advantage of this service, ask your doctor to electronically send prescriptions to: DoD  Ft Lee e-Pharmacy in their electronic pharmacy database.

 Prescription Transfer Service

KAHC prescription transfer service is available Monday-Friday during business hours. Prescription Transfer may be requested at the clinic main entrance (pharmacy Drop-Off section) or by calling 804-734-9535. Please allow 72 business hours for processing all transfer requests. After the transfer is complete, you'll receive a phone call with instructions to pick up your medication at the Drive-Through pharmacy.  

Additional Information

Identification procedures: the patient does not need to be present to pick up a prescription. However, their designee must provide the patient's ID card or a copy of the ID card (both front and back), to verify eligibility.

 Mail Order Delivery

Patients can have medications mailed directly to their home using the Express-Scripts service. All medications now have a copay for this service. For more information call 1-800-238-6095.

Pharmacy costs are based on whether the prescription is classified as a formulary generic (Tier 1) or formulary brand name (Tier 2) or non-formulary (Tier 3) drug, and where you choose to have your prescription filled. Below is an overview of prescription costs:

Military Treatment Facility (MTF) Pharmacy

  • $0 copayment for up to a 90-day supply of most medications.
  • Not all medications are available at MTF pharmacies. Call first to check availability.

TRICARE Mail Order Pharmacy (Home Delivery Service): 90-Day Supply

  • $10 for generic formulary medications
  • $29 for brand-name formulary medications
  • $60 for non-formulary medications

 

TRICARE Retail Network Pharmacy: 30-Day Supply

  • $ 13 for generic formulary medications
  • $ 33 for brand-name formulary medications
  • $ 60 for non-formulary medications

Note: You'll pay more to have prescriptions filled at non-network pharmacies and costs vary depending on your health plan.  (e.g. TRICARE Prime, TRICARE Select). There is no  copay for Active Duty military members.

Hours

The KAHC Pharmacy Changes

The new operating hours, until further notice, will be 8 AM to noon and 1 PM to 3:30 PM.
Additionally, there is a 3 business day turnaround to pick-up medication after dropping off prescription.

The pharmacy is closed on Weekends, Federal Holidays, and First Thursday of the Month (from 1. p.m. to 2 p.m.)
